Editor Patty Brake is busy putting the final touches to our Newsletter. Keep an eye out for all the latest news of the Guild. Of particular note is a wonderful entry by Treasurer Valerie Hoskins. As we say here in NL, “tis an ill wind that don’t blow somebody some good” On January 17, 2017 fire raced through three buildings in the town of Milltown, Head of Bay d’Espoir, one of which was Bay d’Espoir Academy leaving approximately 275 K-12 students without a school, curriculum materials and other resources, including art supplies. It was devasting for everyone involved. Valerie, who is a retired educator, discussed some options with Ms. Kim Tibbs a grade 5 teacher and before you knew it enough frames, hooks, backing and hooking fabrics were on their way to the elementary students. You won’t believe the beautiful pieces these kids, with the help of their teachers and under Valerie’s guideance, turned out.
