On Your Own
This class is perfect for the rug hooking student who wants to finish up that mat sitting in their basket calling out to be completed.
You get to choose whatever you want to work on while enjoying the fun and friendship of Rug School. There will be no formal instruction in this class, but also no shortage of learning, as rug hookers chat and share their knowledge with each other.
Fine Shading Flowers with Diana Dove
Target audience:
Beginner with experience, intermediate, advanced
Description:
Participants will first learn about swatches, including how to cut and hook with a #3 and #4 cut. The course will then focus on how to mock and finger the shading of leaves and flowers, and how to choose a background colour. Upon completion of their rugs, they will see their flowers come to life!

No Stress Introduction to Hooking Portraits with Winnie Glavine
Target audience:
Beginner with experience, intermediate, advanced
Description:
In this course, participants will work with the shape of a woman’s face and allow her to come to life. Once her face is underway, participants will turn their attention towards a hat, which will provide ample opportunity for embellishments and creativity. A couple of pattern choices will be available, but please note, this course does not work from pictures of real people.

Beginners/Advanced Beginners – Geometrics with Diane Hodder

Description:
An introductory rug hooking course that covers the range of tools and materials required for hooking. Participants will learn skills through practice by hooking a geometric pattern using cut wool fabric. This course will also include a discussion on designing geometrics, finishing techniques, and care of completed rugs.

Hooking a Mola with Debbie Howse
Target audience:
Beginner with experience, intermediate, advanced
Description:
This course focuses on mola rug hooking designs, which are inspired by the vibrantly coloured and intricately appliquéd panels created and worn by the Kuna women of Panama. After briefly looking at the cultural significance of the mola, participants will explore its key design elements. They will then design, colour plan, and hook their own mola using triple cord whipping to finish their piece.

The Art of Landscape with Molly White
Target audience:
Beginner with experience, intermediate, advanced
Description:
Participants in this course will learn to create a landscape using basic design techniques that apply theories such as the rule of thirds, composition, and colour. They will hook a provided 12” x 16” landscape scene using these design methods.
