Lillian Dwyer

Fogo Island, NL

Lillian has been hooking mats since the late 1990’s. She works from photographs and/or patterns she draws herself.

Since becoming an Instructor with the Guild in 2009, Lillian most enjoys teaching Beginners. In particular, she encourages her students to feel the influences around them as they bring their mats to life. To tell the story, through the use of color and direction where even sounds and movement can be detected. She did just that when she was chosen to produce a piece for the beautiful Fogo Island Inn and designed her piece based on ‘The Fogo Process’ the interactive use of film and videotape to foster community awareness and identity. http://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca

Currently, Lillian is combining her love of rug hooking with an interest in weaving which adds dimension to her work.
