Description:
This class is a basic dye class: A good “solution” for a short three day rug school and for the busy rug hooker. This class will give the student basic dyeing knowledge to continue to experiment with dyeing on his/her own.
The student will learn:
- How to dye safely
- How to use basic less expensive tools.
- How to create colours using the basic primary colours plus black and brown.
- Several dyeing methods including casserole and spot dyeing, dyeing swatches, dip dyeing, and other fun methods.
If time and space does not allow for some methods then we will discuss, and demonstrate with the use of handouts and notes. You will begin a dyeing book for your own recipes and techniques as you explore new colour combinations.
Materials
Students should have the primary dye colours (red, yellow , blue plus black and brown) and a notebook to copy recipes. $15 to cover extra dye and supplies they may not have. There will be a list of other supplies students can bring so I will contact each student before rug school.
